Neighborhood Views in Uzès

Many sights around the Uzès, France neighborhood have been building up in my camera. It’s time to share.

As you would imagine, many narrow streets with ancient buildings surround Uzès. From my apartment, heading to the main road, some alleyways and sights are along the way.

Along the main street

A centerpiece in town is the fountain with the magnificent statue of a maiden pouring water from a pottery vessel. During the time when there is a blood drive for residents to donate, she is adorned with a pink cape.

My view from the tower

Many of you have asked how I’m getting along living so close to the town’s bell tower. Let’s just say it’s really close.

The bell rings one strike every hour. Then it rings again five minutes later. Don’t ask me why! Then it rings one strike at the half hour. This goes on daily from seven in the morning until ten at night. Actually, it doesn’t bother me at all. It’s a pleasant sound.

These photos show the view from my apartment if you are standing on my rooftop terrace. The Palace of the Duche is straight ahead, the bell tower to the left, and the dome of my little tower is behind and over the roof!

So, what do you think?
