If I had known that learning French is fun, I would have gone to IS-AIX long ago.
Perhaps it’s fun now because I’m in one of the most beautiful towns in France: Aix-en-Provence.
Learning French is fun
Perhaps French is fun because I love weekend markets.
Or it’s fun because boulangeries and chocolate shops are showing off most extravagantly.
The school where I’m taking lessons, IS Aix-en-Provence, is undoubtedly why learning French is fun this time. Classes are small, and the instructors are enthusiastic and encouraging.
Outside activities are part of the weekly plan so students can explore Aix; tour nearby towns; join cooking classes; or, as I did this week, play pétanques.
Even when we’re told to learn passé compose, it’s fun at IS Aix. For example my first week:
J’ai rencontré des étudiants du monde entier.
Nous avons appris à parler Français dans de petites classes.
Je suis allée au centre-ville parce-que c’était à proximité.

It’s St. Valentine’s Day. What better time to learn French, the language of love? In French class today at IS Aix-en-Provence, we dove into a treasure chest of words and phrases the French use to express their feelings of love. Would your heart pitter-patter if your loved one called you “ma Puce” (my Flea)? If someone said “avoir un cœur d’artichaut*” is it a compliment? (*fall in love easily). I was surprised to be told that perfume tops the gift list for Saint Valentine’s Day in France, not a heart-shaped box of chocolates. Flowers are always good. Lingerie is even better –in red, of course. Restaurants and cafes are packed for the occasion. Boulangeries are stacked with heart-shaped, chocolate-filled, cream-puffed, decadent delicacies of every description.

Yes! I’d love to have a tiny dog to carry around with me. I’m afraid I’m traveling too much. Glad you can help speak for the school in Aix. I’m looking forward to a return visit already.
Oo la la ! I am so happy for you. It is sounding like an absolutely fabulous experience. I may just have to do this myself!
Liane, you would love it. We should tack onto our tour and do it all together for a week…what fun!
I have a yearning to do this too and this sounds the perfect place to learn.

This is perfect for me. Very relaxed, professional and friendly. Love everything about it!
OH!!! My heart is aching as I see those pictures–a memoir of my own time in Aix last October. J’ai vu Georges, le patron de pétanque!! And the IS-Aix classrooms…such fond memories. Please say Bonjour to Felicia and Carin if they are there!!
Lol! I’m sure I’ll feel the same after this is over. I gave your message to Emmanuelle. I didn’t have your name, but she recognized your photo! Oui, j’adore Georges!
One week down, one to go….but you’re having such fun, you may want to Stay!
You would love this! Maybe we can come back together. My hostess is fab, too. Hope she’ll visit in Uzès.
